Terrey Sparks in a serious accident
Terrey Sparks, Chairman of Hunstanton Croquet Club, Secretary
of the Federation and a regular contributor to this web-site, was involved in a
serious Road Traffic Accident on Thursday 10th September. He was airlifted to
the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and spent some days in the High
Dependency Unit. His injuries, though never life-threatening, were extremely
severe including a cracked vertebra in his neck, cracked ribs and a punctured
lung, cracked pelvis, damage to his left hip and major bruising to his face.
Fortunately as time has passed it seems that at least some of his injuries were
not as serious as was at first feared. He has just been advised that nature can
now be allowed to repair the damage and he can become mobile! Recovery time was
estimated at 12 weeks from the date of admission and he now hopes to be out of
hospital within 2 weeks of starting physio, which is any day now. He is
currently in the Gateley Ward of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital,
Colney Lane, Norwich, NR4 7UY.
UPDATE FRI 9 OCT
Terrey has now been moved to Dereham Hospital, Foxley
Ward. It seems his estimate of going home this week-end was
over-optimistic and it will be some time before he is sufficiently
mobile to cope on his own. Address is Dereham Hospital, Northgate,
Dereham, Norfolk, NR19 2EX.
